About The Golden Buddha

Named by Chinese leading and most prestigious Jazz pianist, Kong Hongwei, the Golden Buddha, the Golden Buddha Jazz Orchestra is hailed as the most influential and inspiring Jazz band in China. The band demonstrates an abiding commitment to high levels of world music & Jazz excellence and prides itself on China’s finest membership of musicians in both Jazz and Chinese traditional music field.

Absorbing the sounds of Chinese ancient music and western constant supply of pop, jazz and classical music from across America and Europe, the Golden Buddha Jazz Orchestra aims to explore Chinese oriental culture into today’s modern contexts, and to redefine the boundaries of Chinese and Western musical languages. In this way, along with the western jazz melodic structures, the Chinese groove takes a particular form in large number of their repertoires.
